Verify the TiVo device is connected to the correct Input/Source. Make sure the correct input/source is selected on the TV.
If the TV has no signal, no audio, or no video:
Restart your TiVo and other devices, such as the TV.
Check physical connections and disconnect the HDMI cable from the TV and DVR.
Swap ends and reconnect to the TV and DVR.
Try different HDMI ports on the TV.
Try a brand new HDMI cable.
Make sure the cables are not excessively bent or pinched.
Make sure all cables and cords are firmly in place.
Check third-party devices and equipment.
If you are using an AVR and/or HDMI switch, try connecting the TiVo device directly to the TV instead.
If you have cable splitters, junctions, or coaxial wall plates installed, bypass or remove them to see if audio and video quality improves.
Verify if these issues appear:
If the image is distorted or stretched, adjust your TV settings or tune to a high definition channel if you aren't already. If you have a Series 3 or newer device, see How to Set the Video Output Format on Your DVR.
If you are watching live TV, refresh the audio and video by using the TiVo remote to change to a different channel and then back again. If the problem persists, turn the TV off for 10 seconds then turn it back on. If these issues reoccur, see Audio and Video are Out of Sync and Troubleshooting Digital Cable TV Signals.
Adjust the video output format to improve quality and prevent flashing or flickering videos.
Make sure your TiVo device has proper ventilation.
Check if there is ample clearance under the TiVo device and that it rests evenly on a flat surface and not on a towel or other uneven surface. The fan vents are on the bottom of both sides of the DVR. Position the DVR to allow for side-to-side airflow.
Try adjusting your antenna.
If you are seeing pixelated or blocky images for digital broadcast, the signal strength is weak, try adjusting your antenna. You may also want to consider adding a signal amplifier to enhance video quality.
Try changing your Dolby Digital and Surround Sound settings.
If you experience audio issues with a TiVo Series 3 or newer device, try changing your Dolby Digital and Surround Sound settings. Sometimes, toggling from Dolby to PCM or vice versa resolves audio issues.
