Common reasons why your TiVo device is not powering on:
-
potential damage due to power surge
-
defective power cable
-
malfunctioning power outlet/strip
-
potential damage due to natural cause (lightning strike, earthquake, flood etc.)
-
potentially defective TiVo device (busted power fuse, blocked fan)
-
overheated device
Try these steps to get your TiVo device to power on:
-
Check for Standby Mode. If your TiVo device is in Standby mode, it will appear to be without power. To exit Standby mode, press the Live TV or TiVo button on your TiVo remote.
-
-
If your TiVo device is plugged into a power surge strip, unplug it and reconnect your TiVo device power cord to a wall outlet.
-
If your TiVo device does not power on after you power cycled it, continue to Step 3.
-
Once you have your TiVo device plugged into a working outlet, check the front of your TiVo device for activity lights. If you don't see any lights within 60 seconds, feel and listen the back of the TiVo device for the fan.
-
If you do feel or hear the fan running, your TiVo device has power. If you do not see any screens, see My DVR Powers On, but I Don't See Any Screens: Troubleshooting.
