This procedure will return your TiVo device to its factory settings, which will erase all OnePasses, Season Passes, WishLists, and settings. It will also unpair your CableCARD(s), so you will need to contact your cable provider to pair it with your device again. This can take several hours to complete, so plan accordingly.

Go to the Clear & Delete Everything screen:

As a safety measure, you will need to press Thumbs Down three times and then press Enter to begin the Clear & Delete Everything process.
Retail Reset When DVR reboots during Guided Setup
To resolve this issue and get the DVR through Guided Setup, follow the steps below. This will return your DVR to it default factory settings, and will delete any recordings on the device.

Make sure that the remote is in IR mode (the remote light flashes red when a button is pressed).
To enter IR mode, press and hold the TiVo + Red C buttons until the activity indicator on the remote control lights up. The remote remains in IR mode until you manually put the remote into RF mode. See TiVo Remotes: RF Pairing Instructions.

Restart the DVR by unplugging the power cord for several seconds, then plugging it back in.
Watch the lights on the front of your DVR and get ready to press the PAUSE button (but don't press until instructed to, below):

When you first plug in the box, you should see only the green power light.

Within one minute, the yellow/amber IR light will begin to flash.

Press and hold the PAUSE button until the flashing stops and the yellow/amber IR light stays on solid (not flashing). The green power light will flash once to indicate the code was accepted.
Press the following keys in order: 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0
The green power light and the yellow/amber IR light will begin to flash (continue entering the sequence of numbers until you reach 0, even if the lights start flashing before you're done).
The DVR will clear the hard drive, restart, and return to the beginning of Guided Setup.
