Organizing programs in the Now Playing List (Series3 and earlier DVRs)

If you are using TiVo with SD menus, all of your recorded and downloaded programming can be found in the Now Playing List.

If you have a Roamio Series DVR or Premiere Series DVR using HD menus, see How to Organize Programs in the My Shows List.

In the Now Playing List, you can choose to:

  • List all recordings individually, or arrange Season Pass, WishList Search, TiVo Suggestion, and HD recordings in Groups (folders).

  • List programs and groups alphabetically, or by the date recorded (with the latest recordings at the top of the list).

  • Delete an entire folder by pressing CLEAR on your TiVo remote.

To change the arrangement of your Now Playing List:

  1. From TiVo Central, select Now Playing List.
    Note Icon

The current sort or group options appear at the bottom of the list.

  2. Press the ENTER/LAST button to display Now Playing Options.
  3. To change the sorting method, highlight the current Sort setting and press the RIGHT or LEFT ARROW button to choose either Alphabetically or By Date Recorded.
  4. To turn groups on or off, highlight the Groups setting and press the RIGHT or LEFT ARROW button to select On or Off.
  5. Highlight View Now Playing with these options and press SELECT.

Shortcuts

While viewing the Now Playing List, you can use the following shortcuts to toggle between Now Playing options:

  • Press 1 to change the sort order (from Alphabetically to By date recorded, for example). Press 1 again to change back to the original setting.

  • Press 2 to change the Groups setting. Press 2 again to change back to the original setting.

About Groups

Turning on groups puts like programs into folders. For example, a folder will be created for each Season Pass when more than one episode appears in the Now Playing List. A program can appear in more than one folder. For example, if you have a Season Pass to a series that stars an actor for whom you also have an auto-recording WishList, the title of each episode will appear in a group for the Season Pass and in a group for the WishList. There is only one actual recording on the hard disk, however, so if you delete a program from one folder, it is deleted from all folders.

If you accidentally delete a program, you can recover it if you act quickly. For instructions, see Using the Recently Deleted Folder.
