How to Use Multi-Room Streaming

Lets you enjoy your programming from more locations, faster than ever. With MRS, you can stream video over your high-speed home network within seconds and get back to enjoying your favorite shows from any room with a compatible TiVo device.

Reminders on Third-Party Equipment

Hotspots*, Switches, Hubs, Extenders, Powerline, Ethernet, Adapters or other third-party networking devices- these third party devices can be used to make a functioning and supported setup (exactly like how different routers and modems are used); however, we do not troubleshoot third-party devices. If other support article troubleshooting fails to resolve the issue:
 

• Remove all extraordinary third-party devices (e.g. please set up all the TiVo equipment on one router --even if that entails changing the boxes locations).

• Attempt to reproduce the issue on the equipment.

• If it recurs, troubleshoot the issue.

• If the error does not recur, please contact your third-party manufacturer for assistance.

 

*Wireless connections based on 3G, 4G, 4G LTE, newer or similar technologies are not supported.

Requirements

All DVRs or TiVo devices must:

 

• Be running software version (20.X or later)

• Be on the same TiVo billing account. Remember that a maximum of 12 TiVo devices per account can network with each other. You will need to open a second TiVo account if you add more TiVo devices.

• Have an active TiVo service plan

• Have a broadband Internet connection

• Be on the same wired or wireless network and subnet

How to stream a recording

Streaming a video using MRS is as easy as watching a recording. Here's how:

1. Go to My Shows:

   • For TiVo Experience 3 devices (software version: 21.x or later), from TiVo Central, go to My Shows

   • For TiVo Experience 4 devices (software version: 20.x or earlier), from Home, go to My Shows

2. Select the TiVo device where the recording is located.

3. Locate the video you want to watch, select it, and then press Play.

How to delete a video from another TiVo device

MRS allows you to manage videos on another compatible TiVo device on your network.

Deleting individual video
 

1. To delete an individual video, go to My Shows:

   • for TiVo Experience 3 devices (software version: 21.x.), from TiVo Central, go to My Shows

   • for TiVo Experience 4 devices (software version: 20.x. or earlier), from Home, go to My Shows

2. Select the TiVo device where the recording is located.

3. Locate the video you want to delete.

4. There are two ways to delete a single show:

   • With the video highlighted, press Clear on your remote.

   • Select the video, highlight the Delete menu option, and press Select.

Deleting a group of programs
 

1. To delete a group of programs, go to My Shows:

   • for TiVo Experience 3 devices (software version: 21.x.), from TiVo Central, go to My Shows

   • for TiVo Experience 4 devices (software version: 20.x. or earlier), from Home, go to My Shows

2. Select the folder/video and then press Clear.

Can I stream copy-protected videos?

Yes. Most copy-protected content can stream to any TiVo EDGE Series, TiVo BOLT Series, TiVo Roamio Series, or TiVo Premiere Series on your account.  If you cannot stream a video, see Copy Protection: FAQ.
