The TiVo Slide Pro, Glo Premium, and Slide remotes all have a backlight. A sensor on the front of the remote detects when a room is dark and activates the backlight as soon as you press a button. Under some conditions, such as when the room is lit by certain types of fluorescent lighting, the sensor may think the room is dark all the time and turn the backlight on for extended periods. If this happens, the battery life will be shortened.
Note: TiVo no longer sell Learning Remotes; however, you can purchase them through third-party stores or retailers.
To turn the backlight off
- Press and hold the TiVo and Thumbs Down buttons until the activity light flashes three times, and then press Clear.
The backlight on the Slide Pro remote can't be turned off.
- To turn the backlight on, press and hold the TiVo and Thumbs Up buttons until the activity light flashes three times, and then press Enter.
- When you finish turning the backlight on or off, go to a darkened room and press any button to confirm that the backlight is now at the setting you want.
