If you are offered the option, choose to clip the previously scheduled program.
Your DVR has an Overlap Protection feature that minimizes recording conflicts when programs do not start or stop exactly on the hour or half-hour. If programs overlap by 5 minutes or less you will be offered the option to clip (not record) as many minutes as are necessary off the previously scheduled program.
Overlap Protection can even be used to regularly resolve conflicts between consecutive Season Pass recordings. (The program with the lower priority in the OnePass Manager/Season Pass Manager is clipped.) Go to Overlap Protection for more information.
Cancel the recording: Cancel the recording of one program and record another.
When setting up a recording that conflicts with a previously scheduled program, you will be offered the option to cancel the previously scheduled recording.
To cancel the previous recording and record the newly requested one, select OK, cancel the previously scheduled program recording.
Record the new program: Try to record the new program at a different time.
If you do not want to resolve the conflict by canceling a previously scheduled recording, check to see if the new program airs during a different time period.
When you receive the conflict message, select Don't record the newly requested program. On the next screen, choose View upcoming episodes (or View Upcoming Showings, if the program is a movie or special), and select a different time slot for recording the new program
If the new program only airs during one time slot, reschedule the other program. To reschedule, go to:

Create a manual recording.
Some programs do not begin or end on the usual hour or half-hour. If you can't use Overlap Protection to resolve a conflict (see Step 1), try scheduling a manual recording. With manual recording, you can schedule a recording at a specific time on a specific channel. You can also schedule manual recordings that repeat over time, similar to OnePass/Season Pass recordings. Go to How to Set up a Manual Recording for more information. Be guided that Because scheduled programs may change weekly, you should check your To Do List to ensure your manual recordings are set for the appropriate times.
If you have some shows that only air once, and other shows that air the same episode at multiple times or days, Let the TiVo pick the time or day to record some of your shows. Be aware that if the WishList still conflicts with OnePass/Season Pass, the WishList shows will be cancelled first.
If the new program only airs during one time slot, reschedule the other program. To do that:
Write down all of your OnePass/Season Pass so you know which ones you need. Please note that an alternative to writing your OnePass/Season Pass down, you can go to the online Season Pass Manager and print out the list. Be aware manual recordings and WishLists are not shown.
For each show choose either View Upcoming Showings or go to Find TV Shows, and see if the show airs episodes at more than one time or on more than one day.
Cancel the OnePass/Season Passes for shows that air at more than one time or on more than one day.
Set up WishLists for these shows. Now your TiVo DVR will record shows that air on set days and times, while it gives the TiVo the choice to pick up your other shows when they do not conflict.
Be aware that if the WishList still conflicts with OnePass/Season Pass, the WishList shows will be cancelled first.
