Requirements: What do I need and Why
Check your account
All TiVo devices must be on the same TiVo account.
Your TiVo account must be activated and in good standing.
Have an active TiVo service plan.
You can only have up to 12 TiVo devices, including TiVo Mini on an account to be able to use MRV or MRS or LTS.
The host must be a TiVo EDGE, TiVo BOLT, TiVo Roamio or a TiVo Premiere 4 or XL4/Elite.
Check the device model
If the TiVo Mini Series (Mini VOX and Mini LUX) was purchased from TiVo or from a retailer, the host must also be a retail model.
If the TiVo Mini Series (Mini VOX and Mini LUX) was purchased from your cable operator, you must also have a compatible DVR supplied by your cable operator.
Retail TiVo Mini will not work with operator-supplied devices, and operator-supplied TiVo Mini will not work with retail TiVo devices.
Check your internet connection
The TiVo Mini Series (Mini VOX and Mini LUX) must be on the same network and subnet as the host.
The TiVo Mini Series (Mini VOX and Mini LUX), the host device, and all other DVR's you want to use with TiVo Mini should connect to the home router using either a high-bandwidth Ethernet or a MoCA connection.
The TiVo Mini Series (Mini VOX and Mini LUX) may have issues with the quality of the streaming if the host is on the wireless connection. TiVo recommends MoCA or Ethernet connection for optimum performance and streaming stability.
TiVo Mini Series (Mini VOX and Mini LUX) works best with DVR Ethernet or MoCA connection; if your TiVo DVR is connected wirelessly, your DVR and your TiVo Mini Series (Mini VOX and Mini LUX) must be connected to the same 5GHz wireless network.
TiVo Mini Series (Mini VOX and Mini LUX) supports wireless connection.
Prepare the host DVR
Check if the host meets the requirements listed in home network and account requirements.
If not activated, activate the TiVo Mini on My Account.
Connect your host to your home network using an Ethernet or MoCA connection.
Name the host to make it easier to spot/see it on the network (Optional). Choose a name from the list or enter a unique name.
